March 9th - GANGSTAGRASS!!!

There are only three bands that can tame a mountain lion just by playing. Gangstagrass is one of them. Gangstagrass is also the other two of them.

When you armwrestle Bigfoot, don't win. And for god's sake don't cheat.

Gangstagrass is a dirty fightin', gator wrestlin', foot stompin' bluegrass-hip-hop project of Brooklyn based producer Rench, who has spent the last decade making gritty, soulful country hip-hop music that you will actually like.

Yeah, Gangstagrass did the theme song to Justified. Yeah, Rench and T.O.N.E-z got nominated for an Emmy for it. Yeah, this is real bluegrass pickers and real emcees making music. And yeah, we do it live too.

March 26th - DBUK Slim Cessna's Auto Club & Norman Westberg of Swans!
Mar
26
to Mar 27

March 26th - DBUK Slim Cessna's Auto Club & Norman Westberg of Swans!

DBUK is an acoustic project by Slim Cessna, of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, a band that’s held its own onstage with everybody from Johnny Cash to the Dresden Dolls. They’ve been making music for over twenty years - Gospel music for a blasted world. . And the songs, Jesus. Songs about Colorado Indian hater John Chivington, alien abductions, patricide, a man born without a spine. This is the wild, bloody and weird America of Harry Crews, the only America worth a damn. It’s what Flannery O’Connor was trying to say when she wrote of dark romances and the grotesque. If you’ve got a heart, these songs’ll break it, and if you’ve got any laughter left in you, they’ll beat it out of you until you cry.

I probably can’t improve on what Jello Biafra said about Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, that they’re “the country band that plays the bar at the end of the world.”

Accompanying Slim is Norman Westberg, original member of SWANS! an experimental rock band formed in 1982. Initially part of the no wave scene, Swans have, through various iterations, contributed to the development of noise rock, post-punk, industrial, post-rock. Mr Westberg will also be doing an acoustic set tonight!

May 14th- Blasters with the Teledynes

The Blasters exemplify the best traditions of American Music, performing with passion and honesty that for over three decades has won the hearts and souls of fans worldwide. Composed of founding members vocalist-guitarist Phil Alvin, drummer Bill Bateman and bassist John Bazz with Keith Wyatt on guitar, they carry on a hard-won legacy as one of the most recognizable and credible bands in American Music. Their influences range from the likes of George Jones and Carl Perkins to Ike Turner, Howlin’ Wolf, James Brown and Big Joe Turner, all blending into a sound that ignores the lines between Rock & Roll, Country, Blues and Rockabilly. "Fun On Saturday Night" (Rip Cat Records) is the Blasters' sixth and latest studio album, featuring twelve tracks that extend the band’s legacy of classic recordings. Fronted by Phil Alvin's powerful vocals, the band follows through with spontaneity, power and grit that make their live performances into experiences not to be missed.

Feb 16th - The Silks - with These Wild Plains

The Silks are a true grit rock and roll band out of Providence, Rhode Island. With two consecutive Boston Music Awards for “Blues Artist of the Year” 2016 and 2017 The Silks are well on their way to achieving a rightful place in rock n roll history, or at least folklore.

The Silks deliver honest sounds of the blues-based rock n roll variety. You’ve got guitar pyrotechnics galore from frontman Tyler-James Kelly. The Silks nail down the groove with its rhythm section of Uncle Sam Jodrey on drums, Jonas Parmelee on bass and Johnny Trama on rhythm and lead guitar. Fast songs, slow songs, it doesn’t matter. For this humble group of seasoned players, it’s all about the dance floor, and with the right chemistry, the dance floor reciprocates.

While working on "Clash of The Choirs," Greg sang back-up for Michael Bolton's performance of "When a Man Loves a Woman" and was part of a sight-reading and fast-study group hand-picked from each choir for a live performance on NBC's "The Today Show" featuring Gloria Estefan.

Greg enjoyed great success with his residency at the critically-acclaimed Blues Night at The Owl Shop in New Haven for 3 years, The band plays many private events and functions including being selected to play 2 events of The Inauguration of Yale Universities 23rd President Peter Salovey.

The Greg Sherrod Blues band also supported The Johnny Winter Band on Johnny's last U.S. show before his passing. Jan 26th - Sugar Blood Jinx - Ryan Lee Crosby Trio

an amazing night of Blues, and Roots Rock!

Sugar Blood Jinx is a band as diverse as its members; blending elements of blues, jazz, roots and rock

Ryan integrates blues from the hill country of North Mississippi with textures of North Indian Hindustani classical raga music. Crosby performs on electric 12-string guitar and chaturangui (the 22-string Indian slide guitar designed by Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya) and is joined by fretless guitar, tabla, harmonica and calabash (West African percussion). The raga influence is heard through the band’s hypnotic, almost trance-like motifs, and the blues seeps through Crosby’s dynamic vocals and masterful, single-line guitar melodies

all for 8 bucks!!

Jan 9th - The Autocrats: Hump Day Funk Party

The Autocrats (formerly The Funky Autocrats) was founded by trumpeter Eric Bloom (Lettuce) to bring Funk and R&B to the people in the New England area and abroad. The group features a number of talented musicians who have played and toured with some of the music industry's best talent.

Much like RI's Autocrat Premium Coffee Syrup, The Autocrats insist on manufacturing funk of the highest quality. The group's unique brand of horn-driven funk and deep pockets are a favorite of the young and grown alike.  The group's current powerhouse lineup features two vocalists, a three piece horn section, keys, guitar, bass, percussion and drums.

Jan 2nd: Jeff Kelly at Askew

Jeff Kelly sings of the human experience with a sense of vulnerability and grit that is both familiar and authentic. Honesty and attention to detail are at the root of each song and the emotion and experience is not lost on the listener.

Jeff currently splits his time between his solo endeavors and a rotating cast of musicians known as the Graveyard Shift. The band's debut album, titled "Jeff Kelly and the Graveyard Shift" was released in April of 2018.

Originally from Massachusetts, Kelly made a slow migration to the Midwest, living in Rochester, New York for several years, before settling in Indianapolis, Indiana at the end of 2009. In the absence of family and people he knew, Kelly took up the guitar shortly thereafter, if only to keep him company. He's been writing and performing ever since. The songs are a true reflection of where he's been and where his heart continues to take him.

Kelly has shared the stage with such acts as Lera Lynn, Joe Pug, The Wild Reeds, Gaelic Storm, Christopher Paul Stelling, The Dupont Brothers, Reckless Kelly, Joe Fletcher, Hannah Aldridge, and Matthew Mayfield.
