May 30 - They Were Robots

Based out of Providence, RI, They Were Robots! is a newly formed experimental alternative rock band consisting of keyboardist Chris Mitchell, guitarist/thereminist Mike Cirino, bassist Matt Smith, trombonist Keith Harriman, drummer Tim Eskey, and French hornist/trumpeter Alex Colburn. The band rose from the ashes of several short-lived projects involving Cirino, Mitchell, and Smith as well as their active involvement in the Providence based traditional ska and reggae band The Copacetics. After meeting Harriman and Eskey in a chance series of Craigslist based auditions that took place between winter 2016 and fall 2017; the band slowly took on an entity of its own as a musical oddity within the Providence music scene. The line-up was then completed by the addition of Harriman’s good friend Alex Colburn in spring 2018; granting them a proper wind section. With unmistakable hooks, distinctive vocals and harmonies, poetic and humorous lyrics, bizarre instrumentation, and unusual song structures; They Were Robots! are on a sonic mission to intrigue the fellow musician; without detracting from the natural energy and rhythm of the dance floor.

Aug 3- J.P. HARRIS - with the Quahogs

In short, J.P. Harris plays Country Music. Not “Americana,” not “Roots,” “Folk,” or any other number of monikers used to describe a slew of spin-off genres; he plays from the foundation of these styles, the music that has influenced four generations of songwriters. In a world where prefixes have been added to the term “Country,” JP simply sticks to the old-fashioned sounds that have called to him. Referencing influences would be like describing each stitch in a quilt; every scrap of fabric tells a story of how the weathered and comfortable blanket came to be…
THE QUAHOGS... it’s difficult to define a band like The Quahogs by a genre. Equal parts tender and heavy rock, singer/songwriter Steve DelMonico’s lyrics are witty, wise, and delivered with a mentholated authority. Steve Donovan’s lead guitar meanders from gently weeping to chainsaw shredding, oftentimes in the same song. Amato and Nick on bass and drums round out the sound by hanging in the back pocket like a full wallet.

May 19 - Jonathan Byrd & the Pickup Cowboys w/ Ariana Gillis

Jonathan Byrd and The Pickup Cowboys are musical gunslingers, vaudevillian hucksters, and old-fashioned tent revivalists. With their new album Pickup Cowboy (2018), they have brought a bold new set of working-class anthems to Americana fans, and a spirit-raising show to back it up. “...a folk singer with the heart of a rock 'n' roll band.” — K. Oliver, Free Times

Ariana Gillis made an immediate impact on the Niagara music scene, winning Songwriter of the Year at the 2009 Niagara Music Awards, followed by Female Vocalist and Album of the Year in 2010. She networked at music conferences, which led to a quick, two-song performance for Dave Marsh in a stairwell in Memphis, following the release of her second album, Forget Me Not. Marsh then played Gillis on his Sirius XM radio show, which caught the attention of Elton John;s songwriting partner.

Concrete and Mud is a confident career-defining album, rooted in Texas twang, southern stomp, and old-school funky-tonk. At 27 years old, Morrow's found his footing as an artist and appears poised to join the ranks of West Coast heavyweights like Sam Outlaw, Jade Jackson, and Morrow's friend and label mate, Jaime Wyatt, whose vocals can be heard on three songs here. The first single, "Quick Fix" is an infectious hook laden stew of syncopated beats with bubbling clavinet, slinky guitars and doubled vocals. There's also an undercurrent of classic country running throughout the mix

8:30pm - Greg Sherrod Music Company kicks off the nostalgic PVD Jam Session, which originated in this very room when it was Century Lounge many moons ago…. Greg invites many talented, renowned artists to join him in this prestigious Jam Night.

GREG SHERROD -has been singing his whole life, entertaining audiences throughout New England. Greg spent many years in musical theater, starring in productions like Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas) and Nunsence (Sister Hubert), and being involved in Dandelion Children's Theater. Greg has taken the stage with bands like The Clarke Brothers, Powerhouse, Sugar Daddy, and The Highrollers. Greg has also supported and played with acts like Tower of Power, John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band, King's X, Deep Banana Blackout, E.C. Scott, K.D. Bell, and James Montgomery. This experience allowed Greg the opportunity to share the stage with Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle, Nick Lachey, Blake Shelton, and Kelly Rowland. While working on "Clash of The Choirs," Greg sang back-up for Michael Bolton's performance of "When a Man Loves a Woman" and was part of a sight-reading and fast-study group hand-picked from each choir for a live performance on NBC's "The Today Show" featuring Gloria Estefan.
Greg has performed at The Fairfield Theater Co in Fairfield, Connecticut as part of the Band Together Charity Concert series. Greg has been the featured singer in the popular wedding/function band, Mass Conn Fusion, as well as a regular performer at both The Mohegan Sun Casino and Foxwoods Resort Casino.

May 4 - Mark Culter & Men of Great Courage with Bob Kendall Band

Mark Cutler has been underrated for years. He is a rock survivor who keeps making great albums that connoisseurs will love and that deserve wider play. If you love melodic rockers like Mark Knopfler, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, then you'll love Cutler's new disc, "Sweet Pain." Whether he's busting out of suffocating circumstances in "Dirty Town," chasing demons in "Bottom of the Bottle," meditating on romance or pondering the future ("I ain't got no reservation on a salvation cruise,'' he belts), it's all real, all searingly honest, and all darned good.

CHRIS TRAPPER began his career as the front man for late-90’s alternative rock band THE PUSH STARS (Capitol Records). With four CD releases and several high profile national tours -- including a run with Matchbox Twenty -- The Push Stars served to establish Chris as an authentic talent.
As a modern day singer /songwriter, Chris is most known for his song This Time, the #1 selling song on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for AUGUST RUSH (Robin Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers /Warner Bros Pictures).

A prolific songwriter, Chris can boast high profile film placements including There's Something About Mary (Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz), The Devil Wears Prada (Meryl Streep), Say It Isn’t So (Heather Graham) and Gun Shy (Sandra Bullock, Liam Neeson) as well as significant television placements including All My Children, Women's Murder Club, Malcolm In The Middle, a coveted placement in George Clooney's final episode of ER, the theme song for WB Networks dramedy Pepper Dennis and a cameo on-screen appearance with the show's star, Rebecca Romjin.

CASSIDY CATANZARO - For eight years, Cassidy was the frontwoman and primary songwriter in Antigone Rising. After releasing four independent albums, the all-female rock band was signed to Lava/Atlantic Records, and its 2005 major label debut 'From the Ground Up' sold almost 1,000,000 copies. Celebrated for the excitement of its live performances, the group toured with the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Dave Mathews, and Rob Thomas.

Apr 28th - Chris Pureka + Lisa Bastoni

Chris Pureka’s elegant emotionality as a vocalist, and her flair and immediacy as a lyricist have garnered her favorable comparisons to Gillian Welch, Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, and Patty Griffin. She’s earned accolades from such distinguished taste-making outlets as The New York Times, Paste, Magnet, Billboard.com, and The AllMusic Guide. She’s shared the stage with such diverse and esteemed artists as Dar Williams, The Lumineers, The Cowboy Junkies, Gregory Alan Isakov, Martin Sexton, and Ani DiFranco. Along the way, Chris has remained fiercely independent, selling nearly 50,000 albums through her own label, Sad Rabbit Records.

Her latest album, Back in the Ring, is Chris’s first studio full length since 2010’s critically acclaimed How I Learned to See in the Dark. “I’m not interested in releasing songs I can’t get behind or records I don’t love,” she says of the five-year span between albums. The title of her latest playfully suggests something of an artistic comeback, but it also references the album’s themes of relationship conflict and making the decision to fight back against dark inner demons.

Lisa Bastoni

Following a ten year break from music, a career change, and two children, Massachusetts songwriter Lisa Bastoni has returned with The Wishing Hour (2017). Recorded mainly in the wee hours of the night in the kids' play room, the album debuted as #1 most played on Boston's WUMB. In the past year, Lisa has been selected to showcase at the New England Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA) conference, as well as the Falcon Ridge and New Song Music/LEAF Festivals. Her song "Rabbit Hole" was grand prize winner of the Great American Song Contest. She has opened for artists such as Lori McKenna, The Low Anthem, Regina Spektor and Arlo Guthrie. "Americana of the highest order...along the lines of Gretchen Peters or Patty Griffin" (Maverick-UK).

Lisa is currently working on a follow-up album, to be released in late 2019.
